The weekend kicks off on Saturday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with The Seminars at Bell Harbor International Conference Center, featuring renowned wine experts from around the country leading in-depth explorations of Washington wine. Speakers will include chefs such as Seattle culinary pioneer Tom Douglas and Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard, leading wine journalists like Bruce Schoenfeld of Travel + Leisure and Sara Schneider from Sunset, and celebrated Washington winemakers including Master of Wine Bob Betz of Betz Family Winery and Master Sommelier Greg Harrington of Gramercy Cellars. Tickets for The Seminars go on sale soon.

Saint Martin's Alumni Association's Capital Food and Wine Festival will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from Noon to 9:00 pm in the Marcus Pavilion and Norman Worthington Conference Center at Saint Martins University in Lacey, WA.
Each year the Festival hosts regional vintners to promote their bottled spirits, microbrewers to share their best brews and South Sound restaurants and food vendors to provide their tasty treats for all to enjoy. Plus there will be entertainment on two stages throughout the day.

Dockside Bistro & Wine Bar will be hosting a 5-course benefit wine dinner and silent auction for Doctors Without Borders ( www.DoctorsWithoutBorders.com ) to assist with Haitian relief. Wine for the dinner has been graciously donated by Olympia area vintners Walter Dacon ( www.walterdaconwines.com ) and McCrea Cellars ( www.mccreacellars.com ) . Music will be provided by harpist Kippy Lou Scott. In addition to wine contributions from Walter Dacon, McCrea Cellars and Donedei www.donedei.com, auction items will include in-home catering of a dinner by Chef Cedar Martin as well as owner and Chef de Cuisine Laurie Nguyen, private music performances by harpist Kippy Lou Scott, saxophonist Gary Scott, keyboardist Joe Baque, and vocalist Greta Matassa ( www.gretamatassa.com ), and a weekend at our Olympia area vacation waterfront home for 4 couples ( www.oysterbeachhouse.com ) (as well as other items yet to be determined). All proceeds from the dinner and silent auction will be donated to Doctors Without Borders. $150.00 per person.
